What’s up with the Captain Kirk, Starship Enterprise bridge thing that Toyota put in the Prius? Ugly, stupid, and takes up needless space. And an ideal place to spill your coffee.

It’s handy to charge your phone or whatever in the storage underneath. Other than that, I didn’t like it

My car (2001) has a fully vertical center stack. I used to get annoyed even at the angling of the stack in some cars, but most of them do it — this one is just an especially bad example. In addition to spills, you have a lot more opportunity for bad glare from the sun or outside lights. Vertical stacks reflect the glare away from your eyes, plus they allow more space for cupholders, storage, etc and collect a LOT less dust/pollen.

The current one doesn’t have it, I think because of those complaints.

Or to bang your knees on. It’s right up there with the dinner-plate-sized speedometer in the center of the Mini Cooper’s dashboard which, it appears, they’ve finally dumped. I could never take those cars seriously because of that feature.

Exceptionally functional as a purse holder. I like passengering and not having to keep kicking someone’s handbag out of the way.

I believe the Prius V never got that feature.

Second bone of contention: they put a flat rimmed steering wheel.

the most anjoying part is these do not need to be anything more than a button or a dial. there is no physical linkages anymore. SO much wasted real estate.

returning them to the column makes good sense to me. or just a knob.

Or a voice command. Personally, I find the Prius to be an annoying car.

I think voice command could be infuriating, imagine 3 point turns or parrallel parking

I like my giant speedometer in my Mini. It’s a cool styling feature.

So don’t have kids. Or don’t buy a Prius. (I take Option 2.)

Exactly. Nothing says jumping the shark like it being on a Prius.

It’s also usefully for sticking reminders to.

Yoi’re already looking away from the road at the speedo, so why not also read some notes?

Digital speedo in the tach. The flat surface in the dash just makes a nice place to stick things to do you don’t lose them in the car.
